Founded in late 2006, Parallel Media LLC (“Parallel Media”) is a Russian financed, US film production company managed by its President, Ray Markovich, and its Chairwoman, Olga Mirimskaya. With partners, Parallel Media has produced five feature films in the last 12 months including: American Summer (US), Autopsy (US), Nine Miles Down (UK/Hungary/Tunisia), The Black Waters of Echo’s Pond (US) and A Broken Life (Canada).
While Parallel Media has Russian roots with both Ms. Mirimskaya (Moscow) and Mr. Markovich (St. Petersburg) spending and/or having spent considerable time in Russia, it is a US company with worldwide production capability making “Hollywood” films that target the worldwide market. However, its focus on “Hollywood” films does not mean that Parallel Media has forgotten its Russian roots as three of its bigger productions in 2009 will likely be at least partially shot in Russia. These films include Azazel, which will be directed by Paul Verhoeven and star Milla Jovovich, The Zone, which will be directed by Andy Davis, and Angel of Leningrad.
Besides the above three films, Parallel Media has an additional five feature films currently in production including Demoted produced by Warren Zide and directed by JB Rogers, HighSchool produced by Warren Zide and directed by John Stalberg, Pretty Little Hate Machine with Bob & Peter Rafelson, and several other projects in various stages of development. These five films will all be substantially US productions. However, in 2009-10, Vietnam aka Comrades in Arms written by Brian Ward will also be at least partially shot in Russia.
Parallel Media has related companies involved in food production and distribution, forest products, trading, fund management, commercial banking, real estate development, licensed digital music distribution, web TV, cinemas, film distribution and other businesses.
